15 minutes or less spring cleaning

Time flies! hello march and good bye! What?!!? I can't imagine, I didn't even have time to really sit down and enjoy this month and blog! Well anyways, for this last day of March, I'd make sure that for once, I will have time to enjoy, touch base and give some love to my blog.

It’s getting a bit warmer here, which means only that spring just hit the door. For me springtime does not only means warmer and colorful days, it also means spring cleaning. So as a warm up let’s do a 15 minutes or less spring cleaning, shall we? It’s never too early or should I say too late to jump on spring cleaning, small things makes big difference after all.

Some chores that will only require 15 mins or even less of your time.

1. Clean and organise your makeup bag or your everyday makeup container.

I don't know with you guys, but in my case since I'm always in a rush in the morning preparing myself to work, my makeup bag and container tends to be a mess and disorganise. So what I normally do, I always clean and organise this every Saturday.  I empty the container/bag. I take an antibactiral wipes and clean each of the makeup.  I'm segregating the items and if I'm not using it, I will put it back to my makeup drawer or I even throw some that are not working with me. I also like to take turns with the product, meaning every week I always take other makeup from my makeup drawer to use for the coming week. In this way, I make it sure that I will use all the makeup that I have.

then viola! a clean and organise makeup bag/container.

2. Clean and organise your night stand drawer.

My night stand drawer contains items that I will most likely want to reach before sleeping.

So first empty the drawer, wipe the drawer and each items using your antibacterial wipes or solution. Segregate. Do an inventory and analyze what items you're really using and not. For the items that are not supposed to be in the night stand drawer, you need to make sure to find a proper home for these items.

3.Organise your cabinet/dresser.

This took me the maximum 15 minutes (I think even more) of the spring cleaning challenge. Coz it is so difficult to decide which one I should let go and keep.

So first you want to take out all your clothes. Analyze or I even fit some. This way I can proceed with the next step, which is - DECIDE. Decide whether its' a YES, NO or MAYBE. Yes means I'm keeping it, No means I'm donating it. and Maybe means I have to think gazillion time (wink *) ). So from there I segregate my clothes into 3 groups (Yes, No & Maybe).  Once I have decided, I will arrange it, put it back in the hangers or fold it nicely.

One thing that I prefer when organising the dresser, is to put the shirt color coded. I swear this small tip really makes a huge difference.

I hope I gave you some idea for a quick spring cleaning.

Keep smiling and spread love!!!

Style to steal

Who doesn’t like a branded or signature items?!!? Well I guess no one; I do sometimes splurge myself for the things that I’m really dreaming/wanting, but not all the time. (Or else my wallet will dry out ;D) Branded or signature items are nicest thing of them all but not the price tag underneath. That is why I am in constantly looking for a better deal without sacrificing the quality and the style that I want.

You may recall that back in my post here, I am gravitating towards the leopard prints style. So from that day, I was in a continuous hunt for my current obsession. And I am happy to say that I successfully found the things that I want and the most exciting part is that I got it in much better price point. Why spend a lot if you can get it in cheaper price, right?

So without further ado, here are the items that I successfully found:

As you can see its a big price difference. But design wise it is pretty close (especially the Munro and the Fioni). Honestly I really LOVE these flats, especially the deflex, without exaggerating its the most comfortable shoes I ever had. As the name explains, it a flexible flat. It is so comfortable and very soft. I have been using this non-stop.

They are currently on sale right now, so please get one, I swear you'll never regret it. They also have other designs in the same concept "deflex", I tried them but honestly though its comfortable its not really flattering in my feet, not unlike the leopard print.

Here are the other things that I got, which are also in a better price point:

from forever21, not available anymore but this is also nice.

Scarf from H&M (Its currently on sale!)

Iphone case got it from the street vendor in China. I really love this! and I also love the price!

You don’t have to spend a lot, fashion is not about the name/brand  or the price tag underneath, its about how you put it up together and how you carry it.

And finally, I want to share with you all this nice quote from YSL

Happy Friday!!! keep smiling, spread love! and stay FABULOUS!!!

Party pinspiration

I threw a simple surprise birthday party for my friend at our house. Though I have a limited time to prepare (since I just made everything after my office work) I was still happy with the outcome! Our small gathering was just filled with a magic touch of pinterest inspiration :D

I just decided to serve finger foods, since I don't have enough time to cook main dishes.

I served: baked french fries, black olives, black olive paste, cherry tomato, slice of cucumber and carrot, store bought Pâté, and sun-dried tomato with turkey and cheddar cheese skewers.

Sun-dried Tomato with turkey and cheddar cheese Skewers

Variation of Chicken cucumber salad and hummus

Cherry tomato with cucumber slice, black olives and feta cheese skewers.

(left side) Cherry tomato with buffalo cheese and basil leaf skewer.

 Stuffed Baguette and Croque-monsieur

Bruschetta

That's it! It was definitely a sweet and simple small gathering night! Let me know if you want me to share the recipe or how-to for the foods that I served. Or please do share some of your pinspiration project lately.

Pinterecipe mood: 2 ingredients chocolate cupcake

Who’s not familiar with Pinterest? Well I guess no one! I myself have always been hooked with this site, and it also came to a point where I've spent half of my day pinning and surfing. {You can follow me here}

So one day, I was in a baking mood and have decided to try this 2 ingredients cupcake. Yes you heard me right only two ingredients!!!
You only require:

1. cake mix
2. pure canned pumpkin

Original recipe calls for a cake mix but apparently I don’t have one, so I just use the muffin chocolate mix, hoping that it will also work…

So here’s the step-by-step procedure:

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine the 2 ingredients.
3. Grease your muffin tin and line it with your cupcake liners.
4. Spoon into greased muffin tin and (optional) top with some chocolate chips or walnuts.
5. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Verdict: I find it OK, but it didn’t really WOWed me. It’s not fluffy (unlike what others are saying) and it is somehow a moist texture (but not really moist). For me sweetness is just OK for my preferences. But my hubby and my friend said that it needs more sugar. So if you have a sweet tooth, I guess you have to modify this and add some more chocolate chips or sugar. But overall, it’s OK considering that it’s so easy to make and it’s a healthy alternative to your normal cupcake/muffin. Next time, I will try to make it with a cake mix (as the original recipe calls), maybe result will be different.
But I'd still recommend that you give it a try, especially during the days where you crave for some sweets.
